Breast cyst aspiration is a procedure that is done in the office with minimal pain or discomfort. Usually a local anesthetic is injected just under the skin above the lump after the area is cleansed with alcohol. A needle is then inserted directly into the lump to remove fluid that may be present. Often the lump will completely disappear following this procedure. Dr. Strobel may or may not send the fluid to an outside lab. This will depend on the appearance of the fluid as well as the breast examination following the procedure.
It is common to have bruising after the procedure, but there will be little discomfort.
